"The number of plays you can generate is larger than the number of atoms in the universe. In fact, one could generate as many plays as there are atoms in the universe FOR EACH atom in the universe". @viktor.im, @umblaetterer.bsky.social on generating TEI dramas with 🎲 (based on a 1829 book) #TEI2025

Mareike @mkschumacher.bsky.social, Marie Flüh & Felix Lempp explore how plants, animals & habitats appear in 680 German #DraCor plays (1510–1947). 🌱🐎🌳 Findings: ecologies appear rarely, peak twice (1800–1850 & 1900), and are richer in speech than in stage directions

To use small (large) language models might need more thorough planing and preparation in the humanistic project, but it comes with more insight into wether and how it fits the task – now Thomas Jäger from the University of Vienna is reporting on the use of LLMs in drama analysis #DraCorSummit

The Comp. Drama Analysis workshop is kicked off by @benkrautter.bsky.social revisiting the problem of Heinrich von Kleist’s place in literary history. By applying machine learning to 634 #DraCor plays, he shows how Kleist’s works appear “too modern” for their time, resisting easy classification
