📢 Now accepted at Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews 🤩

Our proposal offers a framework for understanding how fundamental regulatory sensations, such as boredom & effort, shape temporal experience through interoceptive mechanisms.

What a cool format! 🎓

I had a great time as the opponent at Thekla Müller-Boysen’s PhD defense @au.dk. It was a strong defense and made for a fun discussion on boredom & its interpersonal consequences.

Huge thanks to @stepf.bsky.social & team for the invite 🙏

Thanks again for the invitation and the great get-together 😎 That was truly fun talking about research methods, getting carreer advice, and ofc getting to know the typical local food "Frankfurter Grüne Soße" and "Handkäse" - can recommend 😜

Two inspiring days in Frankfurt! 🇩🇪 Many thanks to Prof. Chris Englert & his team at Goethe University for inviting us and organizing a great program. We had an excellent scientific exchange, shared projects & enjoyed the city’s landmarks.

Looking forward to hosting them in Hamburg next year! 🌍🤝

Such a pleasure to welcome Yannick Ramsel from @ZEIT.de to @dhprlab.bsky.social!

He volunteered to take part in some of our upcoming experimental setups & we had great chats about boredom and DHPRL research in general.

Had the pleasure of speaking with Gabriele Kuhn from Kurier (@kurier.at.web.brid.gy) about boredom—what it is, how it shapes our behavior, and why it matters (in 🇩🇪).

Cool to see the still growing appreciation for this often-overlooked everyday experience 😁

🚀The DocDays are over!📚
Our lab joined forces to write standard operating procedures for our instruments.Biggest win of writing together: Deciding together what-goes-where, with much less hesitation and frustration.🕒💨
Feel free to share what works (or doesn't) for you to make lab docs more useful!💡

📢 New Publication 📢

Effort differentially shapes behavior before, during & after an action. w/ @bcheval.bsky.social, Silvio & Florent, we explore stage-specific effects of physical effort & how these dynamically modulate each other.

Now out in Trends in Cognitive Sciences 🤩🤩

We had an awesome guest in our #DHPRLab meeting: @nicoschuck.bsky.social.

Nico told us all about the neural and algorithmic mechanisms of learning, which was both interesting and informative.
Thank you for taking the time! 🙏

Great news for our lab! Together with our friends from Konstanz, @mbieleke.bsky.social & Julia Schüler, we will investigate how people tackle mental & physical effort in freshly funded @dfg.de project! 💪🧠

What a great start to the week 🤩

Thrilled to share that a @dfg.de grant proposal with Julia Schüler & @wanjawolff.bsky.social got funded!

This gives us time and resources to explore the interplay of cognitive and physical effort. 🎉

We suggest that sport & exercise psych should adopt formal decision models to study how high-stakes contexts and self-regulatory demands shape the explore-exploit trade-off.
