So after the pilot projects approved using them are supposed to be done?

Security (and health physics requirements to an extent) are commonly seen as regulatory burdens that don't generate money. I had a former RPM once describe the attitude towards rad pro as a "regulatory speed bump that adds delays and costs"
In that sort of framework, these changes aren't surprising

It's very telling who is participating in the advanced pilot program and who isn't.

Deeply shady is maybe an understatement. They're really pushing the "incidental power production" exemption past the limits. Like, if I was a serious developer, I wouldn't want legal exposure that would give ammunition to intervenors

I'm pretty sure I got my current job because I explained how I evaluated stress corrosion cracking in vintage fountain pen nibs as a side project in graduate school. It apparently made an impression

According to my records I bought these Nov 6, 2024. I must have been stress eBaying

It took me a minute to find them. These are the seller's photos as I apparently never took my own

I always love stuff like the Savannah River matchbooks with safety messages all over them. The juxtaposition is very funny in hindsight

I don't have a good picture (but there's plenty of examples online). The shirt pieces need some backing, but compared to a complex quilting pattern, it's fairly straightforward. It's a nice way to keep and reuse items of clothing like that.

You can make them into a quilt! Mom did that with a bunch of mine. Doesn't help as much with the worn out ones, but it's an option if you're nostalgic

Also, I'm on a trip this week and I already miss the kitties. Even Pickle, whose preferred thing is to sit on my lap and bite.

I've never understood why those aren't strictly enforced, especially when they're very open about violating the requirements

I have always wanted to pet a Pallas Cat. They're so delightfully grumpy

Microfiche tends to stick around. The storage media is archival and very compact.

DHS, DoD and a couple of others are left.

Good on the Tribute, but yeah, absolutely brutal series of front pages

The Pearce is really a lead holder. 2mm leads and a friction clutch. I've got a couple of modern clutch pencils floating around somewhere as well

These are some of my favorites. A couple of vintage Autopoints, a Pearce, a Conklin, and a 50s MB

While I love a good fountain pen, my actual favorite writing instrument is old mechanical pencils. .046in leads are ideal (or .075in if you can find one). And the fancy plastics are super fun

That's kind of where I am. Indeterminate and I'm ok with that. Although, it arrived rattling around in the bottom of the box, which was not ideal.

I'd rather have the snow, but I totally get it! We're supposed to have double digit negative wind chills this weekend, which I am not looking forward to.

I'm not intensely confident in its authenticity, but also I'm not intensely confident that it isn't. And it was cheap and looks cool on the shelf. So it goes.
