#Breaking | ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences will not face structural changes at this time. No renaming, merging, or disestablishment of areas. Change management appears to have been halted, even walked back completely. It’s unclear the impacts of this announcement on the school of music.

@blairwilliams26.bsky.social - DocConnor is an old UNSW Canberra hand by now. I met him back in 2012 & ended up doing my PhD with him. Good friend, great colleague & deeply knowledgeable about all the nooks and crannies of UNSW Canberra. Would love to welcome you with a breakfast & coffee in time!

Prime Minister Albanese and Minister Wong should hang their heads in shame that they left the safety and fate of heroic Australian humanitarians in the hands of violent war criminals.

I appreciate the opportunity I have with my work to put my writing skillset to good use. But, it absolutely drains my tank for other writing tasks. I find it so hard to carve out writing time for non-work related purposes at present. 😵‍💫

New article:)

I encourage everyone to read up on operation inglenook.

Trans women getting incarcerated in men's prisons isn't some trumpian anomaly. It's the policy of the australian labor party.

“We still live in an age where migrant sex workers are portrayed as gullible and weak damsels in distress, rather than struggling, disadvantaged women just playing the cards they have.”

Natalie Feliks on Operation Inglenook and its echoes of the ICE raids in the US.
Australia's own ICE raids: A look at Operation Inglenook - Overland literary journal
Racially-motivated raids, trans women being placed under male confinement without trial, and police-sanctioned sexual abuse are not exclusive to foreign countries or the Trump administration. They are...

"No. The malaise will continue until it builds into a crisis that is big enough for us to develop a private-public market based solution so that we can shift more profits from the public purse to private hands and also not solve the problem."

The extent to which the corrupt gerontocracy of the Democratic party & its backers have failed US democracy is staggering. They have had five elections & 3 administrations since Bush 2 to protect fundamental democratic structures. Instead they have conceded to fascists & pursued personal enrichment.

Proposed changes to Australia’s FOI laws would make a repeat of the disastrous Robodebt coverup more likely, rather than less, our new research shows.

The PM described Robodebt as a “gross betrayal and human tragedy”, yet his government plans to make cabinet documents harder to access. #auspol

More than 2 years after the NACC was established, it hasn’t held a single public hearing. Now we learn the PM pushed to make it harder to hold them.

Public hearings are vital to building trust - the Govt should be making them easier, not harder.

The only acceptable context in which to read the end of a book first is when you're parsing an academic text & you want to know who the author is going to be referencing - & how - before you start reading & analysing their arguments. Doing this for just about anything else is seriously strange
