I think they write such things because it's what they believe. People, including journos, steeped in neoliberal lore, are semi-secretly terrified of the big changes that are likely to occur over the next 30+ years. Chloe and her peeps are activated by it and offering ways forward.

This does explain some of the thinking at the time – thinking by 1980s Labour leaders who were a) into University of Chicago economics, b) made neo-liberal policies law in the 1980s, and c) left Labour and created the Act party. I'm hopeful left-wing political thought in NZ has come a ways since

When you get a chance you might want to check out Pen Pot. I'm only just starting to explore myself. They don't have variants or variables yet but say they're working on those. So far, they have made noises about being more interested in ML than AI ... we shall see. penpot.app/penpot-vs-fi...
