Wow, that's a lot of new followers all of a sudden! All I can say is welcome.

My name is Diana Bolsinger and I’m an Assistant Professor of Intelligence and National Security at The University of Texas at El Paso. I’m also a former U.S. diplomat and a denizen of the Deep State (Shhh!) 1/3

Are you a full professor in Security Studies with a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Policy, History (Intelligence or National Security), or a related field?

Please consider applying for or sharing this vacancy. We're a super team!

Hah! Much as I may like and respect you, Rory, this is going on my syllabus for one reason and one reason only: it gives the best picture of the variety of approaches to CA available.

Deal with it.

Josephine Baker spied for France 🇫🇷 against the Axis- but what if her most secret operation was against an ally? 🇬🇧

This essay uses intelligence records to trace a desperate effort to counter British subversion & save the French Empire

Josephine Baker's secret war
The singer-turned-spy Josephine Baker played a key, and hitherto unacknowledged, role during the Second World War in the secret contest between Britain and France in the Middle East.

Congratulations! It's such a good read, as my students will be finding out in the spring term.
dianabolsinger.bsky.social
Exactly! That's what also will make it so useful in the classroom.

Well played, my friend. Very well played.

So glad that I got a sneak peek. It's an excellent read. I'm even more glad that this will be out in time for me to use it in my spring 2026 syllabi. Kudos to all involved. @magslong.bsky.social @rorycormac.bsky.social @dvanp.bsky.social Genevieve Lester.

Got my copy of the book and my ticket for your talk. Can't wait.

You do choose the coolest projects, my friend.

"Intelligency Community?"

Is that from the original or did the typo occur in translation?

(If in the original, I may need to apply. It's never too late to acquire some intelligency.)

For better or worse, though, I'll bet the majority remain true professionals who will continue to struggle to convey hard truths for the good of the country.

God bless and protect them, because it's clear that they will suffer for it.

Couldn't have more thoroughly enjoyed discussing intelligence liaison and its impact on U.S. national security with JHU's Michael Ard. Here's the link to the webinar. Enjoy!

Huh? You're talking to the wife and daughter of veterans, who served (as a civilian) in war zones herself as well as putting her husband on multiple flights to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nobody said those soldiers chose this mission or that post. My comment refers to those who chose to deploy them.

I predict that you'll enjoy it. Both for its own sake and because there's some interesting/useful material along the lines of the research ideas we recently discussed. I look forward to our discussion of it all next month.

My impression is that Mark is on target with that one, alas.
dianabolsinger.bsky.social
Agreed.

(Now, I wonder what it would take to shake loose the FRUS volumes that have been sitting in declassification review for 6+ years... )
dianabolsinger.bsky.social
That would be terrific, if it's possible. Too much already has disappeared, but it would be good to preserve what we can for the future.

Our job today and tomorrow is the same as it’s always been—to be good, to be wise, to stand up for what’s right, to resist what is wrong and evil. Nothing changes that. Nothing exempts us from that. Nothing prevents us from doing that.
