I'm older than you and have spent my life trying to unlearn the racism built into my childhood. Every time our society takes a step forward to "better" the backlash is so painful. I want our now to be better too. I'm working in my neighborhood and workplace to make it better.

My grandparents were German living in Poland when Hitler invaded. My grandfather was conscripted. He spent most of the war in an American prisoner of war camp falling in love with Americans. They immigrated after the war, never let their daughters speak German and seldom spoke about it.
