So how's the vibe over here these days? I've basically abandoned posting on social media as It seems tailor made for polarization and misunderstanding. I think its likely just a fatal flaw of algorithmic public discourse.

Finding much good here?

Tell me something you've been thinking deeply about.

Could be.

Tyler once again nails it here. I taught my boys growing up that the path to HOPE is through Humility, Optimism, Patience, and Empathy. To see so many treat these things as weaknesses instead of strengths has been one of the clearest signs of the destructive nature inherent in cultural polarization.
i wrote about empathy, the recent push by some conservative leaders to retcon it into a vice, and what i think they're really afraid of.
No, Empathy Is Not a Sin
A recent book tries to make the case that empathy is leading Christians astray. What it really reveals is a fear of losing power.

In an effort to share these more often, on the latest episode of Also See, we had @dicer.bsky.social on to talk about The Mission, starring Robert De Niro! One of my favorite movies we've talked about on the pod so far.

I loved Black Bag even more than Presence. Can't wait to see what Soderbergh drops in May.

We are within years, probably months, from generative machine learning being able to take any old movie and immediately make a full new version that looks like it was shot on today's cameras.

I do not believe I am properly calibrated for the amount of cognitive dissonance this will cause me.

Just an absolutely egregious set of previously on scenes before this week's Severance. An all timer of distrusting your audience's recollection at the expense of the natural joy of story reintegration.

An emotional and beautiful day of talking to so many who have invested their own beauty, intelligence, and charisma into @siftpop.bsky.social podcast as we head to a new season.

Love you Lo!
Getting prepared to record for the final episode of @siftpop.bsky.social podcast.
It's been nearly a decade of making content with these people a few times a year. Sad to see this version end, excited to see where they go from here!
I'll always be a siftpop guru in my heart 💕

Severance is hitting so pure right now. I'm loving it. My only hope is that it can stick the landing as well as LOST.

(This is not a joke)

(Seriously)

Leo DiCaprio's commitment to not doing big-budget franchise-type movies for his entire career is pretty impressive. An astounding filmography and not a single franchise film amongst them after getting his foot in the door with Critters 3. Especially noteworthy considering this era of film. Hats off.
