I read all positive comments to Ikaika. He doesn’t know what a “Bluesky” is, but he wants everyone one to know he loves them! ❤️ #pitbull

Some yahoos on the internet are so sad they feel compelled to hate on my dog for the crime of… *checks notes* existing.

Meanwhile, he’s just snoozing and living his best little doggie life. ✌️

オアフ島とカウアイ島では一週間ずっと激しい雨が降り続いています。かわいそうなエカイカちゃんはただドッグパークで遊びたいだけなんです。(T⌓T)

It’s day three and the little booger has just made himself at home. Ikaika took a little while to warm up, but now he’s not letting me or my wife out of his sight! #pitbull

Aloha Ikaika! ❤️🌺 We fell in love with this gentleman at the humane society and he’s just made himself at home now. He’s only 2 but he’s such a chill dude! 🥰🥰🥰

He already knows how to sit and shake. We’re gonna be working on heel and lay down next! #pitbull

I made a VSCO account and wow, their tools are amazing. It’s like what Lightroom used to be: affordable color grading with tons of presets for beginners. This #sunset just POPS now.

pov: your kanaka wife has a middle name that needs its own nickname 😂 #hawaii

The saying “Another day in paradise” has a much, much deeper layer of irony when used in #hawaii lemmetellya 😂

This may blow your mind: Reuben from Lilo & Stich is obsessed with sandwiches. The Hawaiian isles were once called the “Sandwich Isles” by the British! #hawaii #disney

Aloha is not actually used as both “hello” and “goodbye”. It is used as a greeting, but it has a much deeper meaning. It means more like “love”. For each other, for the land.

When we say farewell here, we say “A hui hou” (until we meet again). In Hawaiian culture, you never truly say goodbye.

Niihau is an island off the coast of Kauai. It was purchased from the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1864 and has been kept in trust (malama) by the Robinson family ever since.

It’s a preserve for Hawaiian culture where the locals ride horses and maintain the old way of life. Permission to visit is rare.

I made Hawaiian BBQ short ribs with the left over rack from the other day!

Marinaded overnight, then placed in a foil-covered dish. I baked them for 2 hours at 250°. Then placed them on a baking tray, slathered them with BBQ sauce and finished them off at 350° until the sauce caramelized.

Grocery store prices here are crazy. I’ve gotten so used to it, that I’m shocked when mainlanders complain about $4.99 cereal. 😅

Ubé bulilit from Valerio’s in Waipahu. It’s a Filipino sweet bread stuffed with Ubé (a purple sweet potato). Ono! Not too sweet.

Back in TX we call these “kolaches”, which is a similar Czech pastry. They can be made sweet or savory.

I’ve heard that manapua is similar too.

I made char siu (Chinese short ribs) for dinner. Broke da mouth! 🤤

Very, very cool! Residents of Hawaii have access to a unique resource through the state's public access room, which enables them to become active participants in their local government.

You can read more about it here: www.khon2.com/local-news/h...

Chili loco moco from Zippy’s. Moco loco is a local dish of a hamburger patty topped by gravy and a fried egg. This version replaces the gravy with chili.

Of course it’s served on top of the ubiquitous sticky rice with mac salad! #hawaiilife #hawaiifoodie

Saw these at Times and had to try them. Pretty tasty! It’s Hawaiian sweet bread rolls filled with coconut, but you can also get other fillings. 😋
