Aloha Ikaika! ❤️🌺 We fell in love with this gentleman at the humane society and he’s just made himself at home now. He’s only 2 but he’s such a chill dude! 🥰🥰🥰

Aloha is not actually used as both “hello” and “goodbye”. It is used as a greeting, but it has a much deeper meaning. It means more like “love”. For each other, for the land.
When we say farewell here, we say “A hui hou” (until we meet again). In Hawaiian culture, you never truly say goodbye.

I made Hawaiian BBQ short ribs with the left over rack from the other day!
Marinaded overnight, then placed in a foil-covered dish. I baked them for 2 hours at 250°. Then placed them on a baking tray, slathered them with BBQ sauce and finished them off at 350° until the sauce caramelized.

Grocery store prices here are crazy. I’ve gotten so used to it, that I’m shocked when mainlanders complain about $4.99 cereal. 😅

Chili loco moco from Zippy’s. Moco loco is a local dish of a hamburger patty topped by gravy and a fried egg. This version replaces the gravy with chili.
Of course it’s served on top of the ubiquitous sticky rice with mac salad! #hawaiilife #hawaiifoodie

Saw these at Times and had to try them. Pretty tasty! It’s Hawaiian sweet bread rolls filled with coconut, but you can also get other fillings. 😋
