I talk a lot about the lamentable lack of Mesopotamian-inspired games and media, so it would be insane of me to not share this Kickstarter
www.kickstarter.com/projects/myf...

It's a Lovecraftian point-and-click mystery game with Mesopotamian influences (the main character is called Enheduanna!).
My Father Lied
A Mystery / Lovecraftian Puzzle Adventure about a daughter's search for the secret behind her father's 20 years disappearance.

He did not bend his neck
“Do not bend your neck for that which cuts necks.”

A Sumerian proverb, as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

Just finalizing my questions for Wednesday's interview with Dr. Saana Svärd! I get asked about women in Mesopotamia a lot, so I'm really excited to be able to get some of those questions answered :D

Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy lapel pins with an "Indiana Jones punching fascists" vibe? Bonus points if the purchase supports anti-fascist work!

Going live on YouTube in 30 minutes to talk to Dr. Amanda Podany about the lives of ordinary people in Mesopotamia!

Always been curious about how people like you lived 4,000 years ago? Now's your chance to ask an expert your questions!

This isn't the flashiest segment of a Neo-Assyrian palace relief, but I absolutely love it. It shows two scribes, one writing on parchment (probably Aramaic), and one writing cuneiform on clay. Little details like this make my heart sing!

Wow I got the other half of @digital-hammurabi.bsky.social on the podcast this week! Some fun topics like Solomon’s temple, the time God couldn’t get hard, and that cheeriest of subjects, slavery!

Did you know that the word for “god” is a plural in Biblical Hebrew? אֱלֹהִים (elohim)
We know it's a plural because of the way the word ends. The "-im" sound is the ending that indicates masculine plural nouns - similar to the "-s" ending of some plural words in English, like "dogs"!

NEW VIDEO! Our latest video is our best one yet! Check it out to learn about the scientific research into an old historical mystery: whether the prietess at Delphi was stoned on geological vapors?

This was a fun one to put together!

As promised, registration for Biblical Hebrew is now open! Aimed at complete beginners, this class is a fantastic introduction to Hebrew - the professor's pretty easy on the eyes, too (it's not sexual harassment if I'm married to him).

Having started Digital Hammurabi because it seemed like fun, and like a good way to fill the void of publicly accessible Mesopotamian scholarship, I'm actually now working on a business plan. Only 6 years after we started! Better late than never :D

Everyone should immediately go and follow Moudhy!
I’ve been putting it off because I’m awkward, but it’s probably time to introduce myself.

Hi everyone 👋🏽 I’m an Assyriologist at Wolfson College, Oxford where I get to research the languages and history of ancient Mesopotamia.

Okay but what exactly is that?
