Hi! This is where I keep my outdoorsy phone pics.

Badlands National Park. In a one hour drive through this park, we saw almost as much wildlife as 3 days in Yellowstone. The “smaller” American parks continue to steal my heart. Low stress, low crowds, high payoff.

Last stop on our California trip was Roys. Such a step back in time. They’ll give you a map to navigate through the Mojave Preserve back to Vegas. It’s a remote and beautiful drive, but risky. Locals say trains can unpredictably block your route for 1-2 hours near the Kelso Depot.

Driving through Joshua Tree National Park, I realized I had a big smile on my face. The forest is magical and goofy, making you feel like you are in a storybook.

On our way to the coast, we stopped at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Preserve. The staff were amazing. Even though it was not a good year for poppies at the preserve, they pointed us to where we would find them on our drive. Just a few miles away was a beautiful super bloom on a hillside!

Next stop was Trona pinnacles, an other-worldly place in the California desert.

Movie Road in the Alabama Hills. We traveled here from Death Valley along 190 (same route as Badwater race). I wasn’t prepared for how beautiful that route was (the valley and Alabama Hills get all the attention). Wish I had some photos from that section, particularly the Panamint Range.

The next step on our southern California road trip was Alabama Hills. This is Mobius arch, which perfectly frames Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the continental US.

This tamarisk tree tunnel spans almost the entire width of the Furnace Creek golf course in death valley. A respite from the heat of Death Valley.

I finally copied all of my pics from Meta to Bluesky/Flashes! Going forward, I’m going to post here, starting with my recent trip to southern California. We started in Death Valley. This is Badwater Basin, the lowest place in North America.
