It's certainly not an ideal solution to Toronto's problems, for sure. A more sensible proposal would've been the expansion of Line 4; a 5-stop Stubway isn't very effective at much of anything. Expanding it could open up more development opportunities in the outer districts of the city.

Honestly, so long as the system gets proper funding and investment, I don't really care WHO is in charge. Toronto needs it, end of story. I only hope Ford doesn't fuck this up too...

A lot of it just comes down to funding in the end. The TTC has had their funding gutted multiple times over the last few decades in the name of """austerity""", and the outcomes were obvious to anyone with a brain. Here's hoping they can secure more federal funding to improve the system.

This is proof that Toronto's subway system is not beyond saving. I have hope for that city yet.

I think the Fediverse is the logical next step of social media. Decentralized local forums with interoperability and transient accounts, allowing for seamless transfer between instances should you want to. The biggest hurdle left for them is making it easier for people to get on board.

The venn diagram of those two spheres is a fucking circle. Every single cryptobro IMMEDIATELY jumped ship for LLMs as soon as ChatGPT hit the web.

That is such a massive margin that Republicans are likely shitting themselves right now (as opposed to in press conferences, as usual). If they can't win back Deep Red Louisiana, they're so cooked it's not even funny. The Senate may be gone at this point too.

The man was like asbestos, lead, and microplastics all rolled into one: incredibly toxic to society, incredibly prevalent, and incredibly QUIET for the majority of their actions. It's literally Oops! All Epstein!

Honestly, I'm surprised more insiders aren't jumping at the first chance they get to spill the beans on this shit. This seems like a perfect opportunity to get recorded as someone that tried to avert the disaster.

Everything I've heard is secondhand from my friends in tech, so take it with salt, but the insiders they've talked to are thoroughly unimpressed with Nvidia's latest chips. Apparently B200's and B300's burn out in a few DAYS, if not a few HOURS. This would partially explain why they buy so many.
February 5, 2026 at 4:31 AM
But also, $185 BILLION DOLLARS???? Based on their quarterly revenues last year, they're gonna light half their income on fire for this shit! How can ANYONE at the head of Google stomach this nonsense??? The world's gone mad!
February 5, 2026 at 2:28 AM
I've heard some truly abhorrent stats about chip burnout rates recently. If they're even remotely accurate, then a big reason companies like Google would spend money like this is that their chips burn through so fast, they need to buy multiple times what they think they need, just to function.

He wasn't even good at tech. He managed to make a half-decent product at a time when there were no competitors, and then lock everyone in for 40 years and enshittify it violently. That he's no scrambling to save the company in a time where people hate them most is truly poetic.

I know that, but with a majority share in the company, he definitely exerts control over operations.
