Her parents Ruwee & Jobal were played by actors in their mid-late 50s in deleted scenes for Episode II. Entirely possible they were still alive during the original trilogy too (though in comics set after IV, an investigation on Naboo on behalf of Vader trying to find his son in doesn't mention them)

They do learn about her at some point but it's still really weird that she's never mentioned, yeah, especially after Luke finds out about his dad. More a fault of the original films' sexism than anything to do with the prequels though (not that those are perfect on that front)

I mean that was a conversation full of half-truths & lies by omission, kind of makes to not be completely accurate ("from a certain point of view Yoda did train me, when I was an initiate")

...your point still stands from a Doylist perspective though

Like you genuinely just have to be a bit dumb to not immediately get that the existence of "toxic masculinity" implies "masculinity" without the "toxic," in the same way referring to "tall people" inherently implies there are people who aren't tall. This is a basic function of how words work.

same bs as people who dismiss the Deep South as if there aren't a ton of black people there. Can't just abandon the most vulnerable to fend for themselves. They need support & protection
