once you’re able to increase awareness of when it’s happening, you can begin choose to disengage and accept that there’s no way to figure this out. it takes practice. it’s uncomfortable. it’s hard. but it’s so worth the peace, time, and energy you can claim back.

rumination may seem productive. you may think you’re solving a problem or figuring it out, but really it’s just keeping you stuck and making you more anxious or depressed.

it doesn’t feel like it, but rumination *is* a choice.

it doesn’t just occur in your head. rumination can also be written or verbal. like writing/typing for hours or saying the same thing to your friend, s/o, therapist, and parent. all without getting anywhere.

this is what we call “going down the rabbit hole” which may sound more familiar
