Aging leftie, amateur jazz pianist, Spurs fan, pro-Europe. Never vote Tory. Or Reform, obviously.
Is that his house in Hartlepool?

These adjectives are (broadly) in order of subjectivity. A raincoat is objectively green, but whether it's huge is a matter of interpretation. Likewise age, but probably less so. Origin, material and purpose are matters of fact — you wouldn’t say a coat was French or PVC unless you knew it was.

“My family’s from Manchester, you know.”
“Your family’s from Manchester, but you're not.”
“Oh, good lord, no.”

I wonder how hard the Telegraph looked for someone who wouldn’t have voted for Burnham, but will now be voting Labour.

Beastly, certainly. But 'big beast' is a stretch.

Braverman was a junior barrister and had to be made a QC when appointed AG by Johnson, her role being to give him the legal advice he wanted to hear. Made Home Secretary by the ludicrous Truss, she was outlasted not just by the lettuce but by Truss herself. Beastly yes, but in no sense a big beast.

Farage welcoming shop-soiled incompetents like Braverman, Jenrick, Rosindell and Zahawi could be part of a Reggie Perrin-style strategy to torpedo his chances of winning the next general election. He knows his talent is exploiting grievances, not doing anything about them.

It's been reported that Diego Garcia, the Chagossian rebel leader, has been spotted war-gaming military options with Rosindell and Mark Francois over a couple pints in the Mawney Arms.

I’m baffled as to why events in a TV game show are reported as if they’re news.

Capitalising the third-person pronoun when referring to Trump is something of which He would surely approve.

…as are not coming clean about this Clacton house, advocating a UK version of ICE, the constant extra-parliamentary grifting, etc, etc. If/when he fails to win in 2029 he’ll have a new grievance to exploit, and we’ll be off and running again.
January 14, 2026 at 9:10 AM
I have a theory that Farage doesn’t want to win the next general election. His schtick is exploiting grievances, not doing the hard yards to solve them. Allowing the schoolboy racism issue to fester and welcoming Zahawi are consistent with a Reggie Perrin-style strategy of undermining his own brand.

So does Badenoch. The chances of her being in a position to implement it are remote, but it still needs calling out.

He won't of course, but this should be a resigning matter for Infantino.

Wanting to be sure of the facts instead of rushing to judgment would be fair enough, if we didn't already know that he won't condemn the operation once he has them.

Is talk of “fac[ing] the full wrath of American justice” not a tiny bit prejudicial?

This writer also seems to think that "gloves off" means the opposite of what it actually does.

Thatcher was also lucky with North Sea oil, the wealth from which she squandered on tax cuts for the better off. Norway, in contrast, now benefits from a $1 trillion+ sovereign wealth fund.

Why does the BBC not sue Trump's press secretary for describing it as “100% fake news” and a broadcaster of “blatant propaganda"?

You can go to prison for causing one death by driving without due care and attention, but apparently not for killing thousands by governing in the same manner.
