I saw one of those in Nuremberg parked at a Christmas market six weeks ago. It was ridiculous how much of the roadway it took up and in contrast to the other vehicles.

I love the Lightning though but I get it. IIRC they went Heat Pump in '24. Can you pre-heat on house power to cut down on heating requirements? That's what I do.

EREV is the worst thing you could buy right now. It's a niche answer to a small minority of people that would actually benefit from it. Get a mild-hybrid or stay with ICE until you're situation changes.

Even at-18C here I'm still 2/3 range.There are many ways to reduce power consumption.
Cold weather fuel economy on an EREV will be horrendous.
Even in optimal temps, a 30% efficient gas engine turning a 90% efficient generator to charge a 90% efficient battery will cost more than pure ICE or EV.

It's a stopgap until the USA gets educated on EV's and erases the FUD. Like any other pick-up truck, 80% of these will be commuted to work and Costco.

BYD and Geely will be the main beneficiaries of this agreement because they are already in Canada. BYD has a bus manufacturing plant and Geely has the Polestar and Volvo dealerships. Tesla sales have dropped here by almost 65% because no patriotic Canadian would be caught dead in a Swasticar.
