The bill establishes an Accessibility Advisory Committee within the Department of Parks and Rec to provide expert guidance on improving access in state parks. This committee will help ensure that individuals with disabilities have a voice in shaping accessibility policies and park improvements.

This facility does not offer a basic, safe custody setting. Instead, the Adelanto setting is abusive, neglectful, and must immediately address the issues detailed in the report.

These conditions are inhumane and amount to the abuse and neglect of people with disabilities.

Whether someone has committed a crime or not, ALL people under custody of the state deserve basic care and humanity.

When DRC visited Adelanto, we found a plethora of issues. Inadequate access to medical and mental health care and disability accommodations, inadequate access to basic survival items like food, water, and clothes, and limited connections with family and natural supports.
Graphic 2: Header Text: Investigations. Right, blue/green DRC logo. Quote Text: "DRC has grave concerns that the recent surge of individuals being held in Adelanto will only place individuals with disabilities at even greater risk of abuse, neglect, and serious harm. The conditions at Adelanto make it clear that the current system of immigration detention is dangerous and inadequate for all people, especially for those with disabilities."
