Meise Botanic Garden houses one of the most important collections of Western European lichens, complemented by specimens from tropical regions to subantarctic islands. These collections are actively used by researchers at the Garden and by the international scientific community.

Our lichen collections are now also accessible through the Consortium’s web portal, which brings together global biodiversity data on lichens, including herbarium records and research observations from around the world.

SpeciesLink, an initiative of Brazil’s Reference Center for Environmental Information (CRIA), provides free and open access to biodiversity data and tools. By supporting open science it strengthens research, education, and policymaking, advancing the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
