I read "Sweep: The story of a girl and her monster" by Jonathan Auxier with my 11 year old recently. We both enjoyed it.

This cat can snuggle up, but I do react if I touch him, even if I wash my hands straightaway. Luckily he has a home to go to for proper cuddles.
