Since I last wrote I have been doing secret crochet mainly but have also put a few more rows on the Honeycomb Cardi. Not much further until it will be time to split for the sleeves! See next password-protected (christmas2025) post for the Christmas crochet update.

This week my Honeycomb Cardi has grown a fair bit. It seems to be going well so far, so hopefully I will keep going and eventually will have a new cardi to wear. I also finished a challenging jigsaw which took me quite a while. It's another one of those Wasgij ones that a friend lent me. This time the picture on the box is from the other direction of what the diver in the middle could see and you had to imagine what it would have looked like from the point of view of a man in the crowd. Quite the challenge, but very enjoyable. There has been some Christmas crochet progress, so password protected post coming up next.

I haven't done a lot of crochet this week, well not that I can post openly about. But this morning I decided I would try to create a cardigan in Tunisian honeycomb stitch. It's based on the one I was making before using the Intemporel pattern (my Clear Skies Cardi). I'm changing the stitch (obviously) but also making it a v-neck.

This week I have made a hat, that is all I have to show for it. The reality was a lot of changing my mind and trying something else, plus a huge amount of yarn untangling. Repeatedly frogging left me with a big old tangle which was super fun. And I'm not even convinced about my finished hat! Hopefully I've got the terrible urge to make a Tunisian hat out of my system now and can move on with my life!

This week I have been fiddling about with making a hat in the Knitcraft Spinning Kaleidoscope. I tried doing it top-down in the round in Tunisian, but I wasn't happy with it. For the first attempt I was using yarn-over to increase, but soon found that left it looking a bit weird and holey.

This week I have been experimenting with making a Tunisian hat. It looks nice, but I started decreasing far too soon and it's a bit tight, so it will be frogged back. I might try the other way round going from the top down as that's more what I'm used to with regular crochet. Of course I could just try and find a pattern but where's the fun in that?!

This week I started thinking about Christmas! This usually happens at this time of year - once we're past our main birthday season, I begin to contemplate what I might make for people for Christmas this year. I came up with an idea and have been testing. As family members read this and I don't want to give them spoilers, I think I shall blog about my Christmas gift progress under password protected posts which I can then open up after Christmas.

This week I decided to start something with another one of my birthday balls of yarn. This is another Jewelspun, but the chunky version (last item was made with the aran version), in colourway Emerald. I'm using the pattern Wavy Tunisian Knit Cowl by Kris Stone. It's the first time I've done something like this in Tunisian and it's really cool.

This week I have a finished item! Shocking as there hasn't been any finishing for quite some time now! My Jewelspun Shawl is finished! Of course I still haven't learnt how to sensibly wear a shawl without feeling ridiculous, but there's time before the autumn and winter to practice! 😂

This week I've been mainly working on the Jewelspun shawl. It has grown a lot and I'm loving the colour changes. I'm going to keep going until the ball runs out and then it will be done 🙂 It's so simple and soothing to make and so pretty!

This date and time 2 years ago I messaged my daughter after falling over leaving work telling her I thought I had broken my leg. Just a little trip which led to 2 weeks in hospital and a bunch of metal work in my ankle. I'm not going to go over and over it, but this year I've been thinking how lucky I was (am) to live in a place where I got the care I needed and my loved ones were safe.

On my birthday, as is traditional, we went for a walk at Cors Caron. And it didn't disappoint 🙂 First a cute little Dunnock, I think it was a juvenile. I skipped last week as things were very busy with work as we had Graduation going on and I didn't do a lot of crochet as I was too tired most days. Not only that but my own daughter was graduating too! I work at the University I studied at, and my daughter has now graduated from the same place, so it felt pretty special.

This week has had some crochet-related ups and downs... The Conch Shell bag I shared last week is now finished and looks very cool as hoped 🙂 Conch Shell bag hanging up (stuffed with my advent shawl so you can see how it looks with things inside it - otherwise it flops and folds over itself!)

This week has mainly been about working my way slowly round the rib at the bottom of the Giddy Hexi Cardi. And finally I finished! Haven't managed to persuade myself to get to work on the ends though, so please excuse the dangling bits of yarn in these photos! And partly from procrastinating ends, and partly from 'this looks cool' I am now working on a Conch Shell Bag from Inside Crochet magazine.

Hello readers, I am still here, just had a couple of weeks off as I haven't been feeling 100% recently, with a pretty rough fibromyalgia flare. But I'm back today and as it's been a while there is quite a lot of progress to show. Clear Skies Cardi has lengthened, but there's still a long way to go

This week I have been continuing to work on my Clear Skies Cardi and have now got past the arm holes, so now it's time to just keep going until it's long enough. No worrying about remembering to increase and there are fewer stitches so it's going a little quicker. Clear Skies Cardi from the front

This week I actually have a finished item! I finished my Perran Ripple Tee 😀 It fits just as I like it and is very pretty and lovely to wear 🙂 Really happy with it! Pattern: MissBackxels 3 in 1 chevron setYarn: Perran Yarns on their DK Egyption base (50% baby alpaca, 25% linen and 25% silk)

This week I haven't made much progress with my Perran Ripple tee, but there have been a few more rows added. The reason for the lack of progress above is that I've started yet another project with that lovely bargain yarn I bought from The Woolly Tangle. I found a nice Tunisian crochet cardi on Ravelry and it felt like it really suited the colour and I'm calling it my Clear Skies Cardi after the name of the yarn colour.

This week my Perran Ripple Tee has grown a fair bit. Maybe I'll get enough length on it next week and it will be ready to finish off. The Tunisian Tee has grown too, but it is a lot slower than regular crochet so it could be a while before I have something wearable! It's quite the faff to try and take a photo of it as it is still pretty curly, so I used stitch markers to attach it to my Advent Shawl.

My crochet update is a little late today as I was busy this morning doing Race for Life! I did the 3km course, walking with my stick, and my daughter ran the 5km. It was very warm, but we did it! Rather tired and sore now though! If anyone would like to donate, our donation page is here. …

I wanted to understand how Tunisian crochet worked in the round, so found a free pattern for a square to try it out on TL Yarn Crafts. This is where my Tunisian double ended hook & cable comes in. You do the sides one at a time with the forward pass from one ball of yarn and the return pass with another ball.
