While he is typically the sort who simply ignores these advertisements, he has a feeling that this one might be different. Perhaps this time he won't hurt by the massive corporation that's only after his money. Panel 2 Phone: We're offering a free one month trial. August: I do like free stuff. Panel 3 Phone: AD-FREE! August: I should try it! Panel 4 Phone: Please enter your credit card info- August: Nope. August has avoided disaster. He is well aware that he is likely to forget about this subscription and end up paying the $30 monthly fee on a service he hardly uses. While this moment has left him wiser, it has also made the world feel a little colder and inhospitable.

Christmas Play - Gator Days
Panel 1 Olivia and Gustopher are backstage in an auditorium. Olivia looks a little nervous but Gustopher is full of confidence. Olivia: Your part is coming up. Are you nervous? Gustopher: Nah, it's an easy short scene. Anyone can do it. Panel 2 Out in the audience, the families of the cast are watching the play. August is thinking to himself. August: I can't believe my son is in a play. I could never be brave enough to do this. Panel 3 The stage is shown. Hannah is carefully walking into the scene with a cane in hand. She was cast as the lead and has spent uncountable hours perfecting her grumpy face with her Papa. Gustopher has also entered the scene and is lighting the street lamps with a piece of cardboard representing fire. It was noted to the audience in the program that no actual fire would be used in tonight's performance. A relief to anyone who remembers the incident of 1995. Panel 4 Back to the audience, August looks up at the stage in amazement. He's amazed at how fast his son is growing. He's amazed at all the different things his son is able to do. Most of all, he's amazed at how his son is becoming his own person. He's doing things that August himself would have never thought to try. He has the potential to do so many things and he's already putting himself out there and doing them. One more thought forms in August's head. August: I'm so proud of him.

The Boss - Gator Days
Panel 1 Stuart is at the front door of August's home. He has brought forms that that need to be filled out before the end of the year. What exactly are these forms for? I don't know. I don't think Stuart knows. No one even knows where they come from. Stuart: Sorry to bother you at home, big man. I appreciate your help. August: It's no problem Panel 2 Gustopher is playing a video game while Mewbert rests next to him. He saw the unfamiliar visitor wants to know what that was all about. Gustopher: Who was that? August: My boss. He was dropping off some forms. Panel 3 Gustopher: YOUR BOSS? But you're bigger than him. August: Being bigger doesn't mean I'm in charge. Gustopher is perplexed by this situation. Surely his father, one of the largest individuals he's known, could simply arm wrestle all the others in the office and claim domination. Panel 4 Gustopher: So he's older? August: I think I'm a little older. Gustopher: How do adults decide who is in charge? August: With money. The world once again makes less sense. Once he believes he's gained a level of understanding about how the systems of the world works, his view is shattered yet again. This is a trend that will continue through out the rest of Gustopher's life.

Break Time - Gator Days
Panel 1 Iris has entered the break room where she finds August sitting on the ground in front of the coffee maker. She greets him. Iris: Hello August. August: Hello. Panel 2 After assessing the situation. Iris decides it's best ask what's going on. Iris: Why are you on the break room floor? August: I felt overwhelmed and sat. Iris: Gotcha. Panel 3 Not quite sure what to do next, Iris sits down on the floor with August. The two sit there silently for a while. The completely ignore the work place motivational posters. One shows two crudely drawn individuals high fiving. It says "LETS GIVE 200% GO TEAM". Another has a man with hashtags glued to palms and it says "WASH HAND B4 U RETURN TO WORK". These were clearly made by someone who has a passion for graphic design. Panel 4 Iris: I thought you were being weird but this is making me less stressed. August: It helps. It did help.

Quick Fix - Gator Days
Panel 1 August just fixed something on his boss's computer. August: I fixed the problem. Stuart: Thanks big fella! I could never figure it out. Panel 2 August is confident that his boss could easily fix the problem on his own instead of requesting a fix two or three times a week. August: It's easy. I could show you how I did it. Stuart: Sounds complicated! I'll leave it to you. Panel 3 August attempts to teach his boss how to do it. It truly is a quick fix. Something that just requires a keyboard shortcut and maybe a click or two. Stuart has zero interest in making his life easier. August: All you need to know is a keyboard shortcut. Stuart: Got a call to make! Talk to you later! Panel 4 August feels slightly defeated but tries to take comfort in the fact that these types of tasks help show his worth to management. August: I guess this is job security. Stuart: AUGUST! COME BACK! I broke it again!

Panel 1 August and Gustopher are having dinner. August has been quiet. He's usually quiet but he's even more quiet than usual. Gustopher: Dad, you're really quiet tonight, Panel 2 August: I just have something on my mind. Someone from work passed away. Gustopher: Oh... Are you okay? August: I'm- Panel 3 August had started that sentence with the intention of saying that he's okay. He starts to think to himself about how he's actually feeling. Panel 4 August: I'm feeling sad. I wish I had gotten to know him better. But I'm glad I had met him. He was a great guy.

Cat Distribution System (Part 3) Panel 1 August is carrying the mysterious new cat that seems to have wandered into his home. He has taken the cat to a vet and has some new information. August: So the new cat has owners. They were moving and she got lost in the process. Gustopher: WHAT! Panel 2 Gustopher begins yelling. He can't believe that anyone could just lose their cat. Gustopher: HOW COULD THEY ABANDON HER!? August: Well they- Gustopher: THEY DON'T DESERVE A CAT! August: Listen- Panel 3 Gustopher: I don't want to give her back. August: Gustopher- Gustopher: We should kidnap her. Mewbert is in agreement with this plan. Primarily because she likes to commit crimes. Panel 4 August: They were already looking for a new home for her and said we can keep her. Gustopher: YES! Legal kidnapping! Mewbert has now realized that the new cat is being held again and she is not. Mewbert is not pleased with this development and begins pawing at August. The new cat has a look of smug satisfaction, as if to say "It's over Mewbert, I have the high ground." New Cat: MAW (possibly meaning, "That's right Mewbert. I'm here forever. This is my home now. Mewbert: MEW (possibly meaning, "THIS WASN'T PART OF THE DEAL!)

Your Friend's Mom - Gator Days
Panel 1 Penelope is picking up Olivia from school. Olivia is excited to see her and show her mom how well she did on a test. Olivia: MAMA IS HERE! Mama! I got a 98 on the big test. Panel 2 Penelope: Sweetie, that's wonderful! I'm so proud of you. Olivia: And Gustopher got a perfect score! Gustopher is looking at his test results. He received a perfect score. If I was a really clever, I would have put some written something interesting on the papers. Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to know what a test that has received a perfect score would look like so it's just scribbles. Panel 3 Penelope walks up to Gustopher to let him know that she's proud of the good job he has done. Penelope: Good job, Gustopher. I'm proud of you too. Panel 4 Gustopher will remember that. Gustopher smiles and holds his test results closely. He feels happy that he did so well today and it feels extra nice when a friend's parent confirms it. He can't wait to show his dad the test results.

An Absent Mother's Day - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gustopher is going for a walk. He wrote a letter to his Mom that he doesn't intend for anyone to see. Excerpts of the letter are shown while he walks. He has found a stick. Letter: Dear Mom, I've grown a lot since you left. Panel 2 Gustopher marches forward with the stick he found. It's a pretty nice stick. It makes a cool sound when he swings it. Letter: I'm not a baby anymore. I learned to write and how to make friends without you. Panel 3 Gustopher stops at a bridge and rests his stick on the railing. He's feeling a lot of big emotions right now. Letter: I guess I didn't need you. Panel 4 Gustopher watches the water. It's a good day and it's a difficult day. Letter: I still wish you were here.

Panel 1 August and Gustopher are going shopping. This store is a lot more crowded than usual. There must be a limited edition tote bag or something like that. August is wearing his Dad Shirt that says DAD SHIRT. He likes that shirt. August: It's crowded today. Hold my hand. Gustopher: DAD! I'm too old for hand holding. Panel 2 August feels that Gustopher can be trusted to keep up with him so he just asks that he stay close. The crowd is moving around a lot. August: Okay, but I need you to stay close. Can you do that? Panel 3 Gustopher doesn't respond. August turns to see what he is doing. Panel 4 Gustopher is missing. Panic initiated.

Panel 1 August's son has just gone missing at the store. He is suddenly flooded with worry and anxiety. It's completely unrelated but Eva is in the background purchasing multiple cases of energy drinks. This will not end well but that's not important at the moment. August (Thinking): My son is MISSING! What do I do? Panel 2 August takes a deep breath. He needs to remain centered and make smart decisions right now. August (Thinking): Don't panic. I need to stay calm. Panel 3 August pulls out his phone to call Gustopher August (Thinking): I'll just call his phone. This is the exact reason he has a phone. Panel 4 Back at their home, Gustopher's phone is vibrating on his night stand. It's not even charging. It was just left there. Mewbert is sitting on the bed and Nougat is watching from the ground. Nougat: MAW! (Possibly meaning "The rectangle shakes! Does this mean food is approaching?") Mewbert: MEW. (Possibly meaning "Nay friend, that is not the shaking of the food bringer. We must while a while longer.")

Gustopher Goes Missing (Part 3/3) - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gustopher had gone missing and August is starting to panic. He just tried called Gustopher's phone but there was no answer. Gustopher is now standing right behind him. August (Thinking): I need to ask the store to make a missing child announcement. Panel 2 Gustopher speaks, surprising August. Gustopher: Something wrong? August: THERE YOU ARE! Where were you? Panel 3 Gustopher points to where he was. He was just shuffled around a little in the crowd. He possibly also stepped through a wormhole where he was taken to a great multitude of dimensions and worlds where the flow of time is different. Don't worry about it. August reaches down towards Gustopher. Gustopher: Just over there. I got turned around in the crowd. Panel 4 August sweeps Gustopher up into a tight hug. His face is filled with emotional. His worry is dissipating he's glad his son is safe. Gustopher: Dad, I was only gone for a minute. August: A lot can happen in a minute.

Early to Rise - Gator Days
Panel 1 August is in bed. He's woken up before his alarm went off. Mewbert is asleep on top of him. Nougat is wandering around by the side of the bed. August (thinking): I think I woke up before my alarm. Panel 2 August begins contemplating what to do. August (thinking): I'm wide awake. Guess I could get up. Panel 3 August checks the time on his phone. August (thinking): As long as it's not too earl- Panel 4 August realizes that it's far too early to wake up and he's feeling too awake to go back to sleep. He is frustrated. Nougat reaches up towards August. Nougat: Maw (possibly meaning "Good, you're awake. Listen, you know that stuff you put in the bowl on the floor in the kitchen? That stuff is great. I need more of it. Seriously, a lot more. There's not nearly enough. The bowl is pretty much empty. I know you can do that thing where you shake the bowl and there's suddenly more in it. I need you to be doing that all the time. Could you do that for me? Thanks."

Dread - Gator Days
Panel 1 There is a table with a variety of comforting objects on top of it, as well as a cat named Mewbert whose mind is currently calculating to find the best moment to do something devious. August: I have a new book. A mocha with whipped cream. My cat. Panel 2 It is a dark and rainy night and August is seen preparing to relax. But he can't shake a terrible feeling of dread that's haunting him at this moment. August: And Gustopher is playing his new game. I can't relax. It feels like something bad will happen. There is a clunk sound towards the table. Panel 3 Back to the table, the mocha has been knocked over and its contents are now being soaked into the pages of the book. Mewbert sits there with whipped cream and sugary coffee all over her face. She stares forward unblinkingly. She will she is innocent because deep down inside she truly believes that she has done nothing wrong. Panel 4 August is satisfied that things have gone wrong. Now he can enjoy this stormy night in peace. Gustopher is holding up a hand held game system. The words "ERROR! ALL IS WRONG" have flashed across the screen. August: That's better. Gustopher: DAD! My game stopped working!

Christmas Play - Gator Days
Panel 1 Gustopher arrives in the kitchen. In his hand is a list that says "Cast" at the top. He shouts excitedly. Gustopher: DAD! I was cast in the Christmas play! Mewbert is also there. Panel 2 August inserts a casserole into the oven. The casserole is in the type of casserole dish that everyone has seen but no one can find it in any stores. This is the sort of observation that may pay off in the future but it probably won't. August: Congratulations. Gustopher: I GET TO LIGHT THE STREETS ON FIRE! Panel 3 August is perplexed at the inclusion of arson in a Christmas play. Surely the school wouldn't do that, especially not after the incident of 1995. He checks the cast list. August: What? That can't be- Ah... Panel 4 August: You're a street lamp lighter. Gustopher: Oh... I guess that's cool too. Mewbert: Mew (Possibly meaning "My condolences small one. But do not give up hope. I truly believe that within you is the ability to give the best performance possible. You will light the lamps in such a glorious manner, the audiences will believe the streets have been set ablaze by the power of your performance. Enough talk, feed me and pet me.")
