My research has required me to become familiar with a bunch of small town Oregon newspapers from the 1960s through the 1990s, and I've been struck by their general willingness to not normalize or platform far right foolishness. I think the demise of such papers explains a lot about today's OR GOP.
One of my unpopular opinions is that creators are dramatically more exposed to ugly market forces than the imperfect mass media they’re replacing, and we’re going to miss the anticommercial tendencies inside of legacy newsrooms once they’re finally gone.

Honestly if there’s anything the last 10 years have made very plain it’s that rich ppl never say ‘oh yes, that’s probably all the money we need.’
