Wow. The University of Chicago, a world-class institution whose humanities faculty in the past has included Homi Bhabha & Lauren Berlant & Ralph Ellison & Hannah freaking Arendt, is getting rid of basically every graduate department involving the acknowledgment that other cultures & languages exist.

I do not find this on home pages of the NYT, WaPo, WSJ; only a small headline on The Guardian. A journalist has been murdered. Where is the outrage--about anything?

My new working theory about the Supreme Court is that they are rubber stamping everything Trump does because they need him to remain in office, because if someone else gets in, they might see their power diluted by court expansion, lose their jobs to impeachment, even do prison time for corruption.

"We call on the world to stop the injustice & stop the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people," says Oscar winner Basel Adra to applause from the audience. 'No Other Land' just won the Best Documentary Oscar.
Also a fantastic speech from fellow winner Yuval Abraham on "ethnic supremacy".

Pretty incredible the organized attempt to tar a Jewish director as antisemitic for giving a speech against a mass killing, while accepting an award for his movie about the ways people make themselves willfully ignorant to the very atrocities their ignorance deliberately enables.
