Wonder how fast these will sell out.

Also cold as fuck, and even if I got a heater, not ideal, because I'd def want the door open if I was welding.

100-200 for a welding unit, plus stuff like a mask, gloves, jacket or apron etc. That's another 200ish.

I guess I need to decide if 2000+ is worth it. It doesn't sound bad now that I typed it all out, but it's a summer project. Corvette takes up entire garage.

Like 6 feet of 1 inch extruded square tube steel is is about 50 bucks now. It was 20-30 last year. I'd need 18-20. So 900-1000 bucks. Probably another 500 for oak. Plywood 160-200.
A good metal cutting saw, so I don't have to use an angle grinder, 240 or so.

Wanted to do an oak top, with a nice finish on it. The shelves could be anything else, probably plywood with veneers.

I have a really cool design in mind too. My current desk has lasted like 20 years. I got it at circuit city on clearance for like 20 bucks, but it's particle board, and the top isn't looking so great after years of spills and use.

(I have a separate POE switch I use for that anyway.)

That was my experience, and a big part of why I never wanted to go that road.

I have feelings on that. Mostly because I didn't want to be a parent, and took steps to make that happen. I think a lot of people feel some degree of pressure in that, and maybe one person wants one, and the other doesn't, and ultimately the kid pays the price.
