I'm an adult, I've spent years verifying my identity (and age) using things like my SSN, bank statements, W-2s, the usual things.

I'm not letting some tech-company scan live 3D geometry of my face just to play a game for a couple hours out of the year.

That's the line I'm not crossing

For me though, it's not about having to pay or not.

Furality has negotiated a deal with VRChat wherin attendees do not need to pay to age-verify.

You may ask yourself, what does VRChat get out of that sort of deal - I'd presume the answer is as simple as it makes age-verification feel more normalized with more users doing so on their platform.

Thanks! same. I can't tell if they are being pressured into this by VRC's long-term goals - or are instead eager to solve a safety problem that has grown with attendance - & would rather do so on their terms (time), rather than be forced to make this change right before or during a convention.
