Say, Fuzzy Pickles!
@djfuzzypickles.bsky.social
Another Internet nobody that spouts occasional mumblings about nothing in particular.
I mostly repost retro gaming stuff.
Seems to be about the same for the EZweb version and iMode too.

Sure, why not? Let's try this: Introduce yourself with 4 spaceships.

So they are doing an official Worldwide Popularity Poll for Dragon Ball characters. Of course, I voted for the true best character:

It's been a while since I have done a #RandomGameSaturday post. Here's Batman Returns for the NES. A late system release for the NES, it's a pretty decent beat-em-up for the system with an amazing soundtrack. Worth a playthough for the music alone.

I got a 2 for 1 on this. First console I actively remember playing and owning was a NES. I didn't have it for long before our family got a Sega Genesis. However, since my dad already owned an Atari 2600, we played some of that too. Mostly Ms. Pac-Man and River Raid.

I'm assuming the reason why I didn't get the Nintendo Switch 2 invite is because Nintendo found out that during the 16-bit and 32-bit era, I had a Genesis and a Sega Saturn.

I had a Game Boy Color so that must count for something, Nintendo!

Wow that long awaited sequel to Frogs and Flies for the Atari 2600 is going to be crazy, huh?

Stayed up all night last night and even called my local game store but I can't seem to find anything in any online stores and nobody is able to answer me if they are going to get copies of the sequel to Switch for the Sega Mega CD? I thought that's what everyone was wanting to pre-order?!?!

Good luck! You'll need it!

Not a true #RandomGameSaturday, but in celebration of it being playable again, here's the Mega CD version of Lunar: Eternal Blue. The Remastered Collection is based on the PS1 version but this version is still an excellent RPG title. This release includes a 5 track mini-CD, including 2 vocal tracks.

Also somewhat related, I still really hope for a Sega Arcade collection from the Yakuza/LaD games, especially Daytona 2/SRC 2, Spikeout, Motor Raid and Fighting Vipers 2. Also Scud Race because why is Scud Race not in one of these yet?

- Shinobi 3D/Shinobi (2011)
A 2.5D style game that attempts to be Shinobi III-like and it kind of gets there. You now can swing with a grapple hook and can perform stealth attacks and parries. You also get ranked on each stage and earn points that can multiply. Not a bad effort from Griptonite.

- Shinobi 2: Phantom Ninja (2011)
A follow up to the Shinobi 2009 phone game. This game appears to be a middle of the road attempt that I'm sure is just fine for short 5 minute spurts. Touchscreen controls on this one rather than numpad controls from the 2009 game, at least in one version released.

- Shinobi (2009)
AKA Shinobi Tolerance, this is more or less an enhanced version of the original 1987 arcade game for mobile phones. You now have 3 hits before death and the hostages look a little too much like Mai Shiranui. It appears to be a bit jerky to play but doesn't seem entirely awful.

- Nightshade (2003/2004)
More of the same from Shinobi 2002, but without the life meter drain mechanic. This time, you play a kunoichi (female ninja). Even without the life draining, the game can still get tough in spots! Not a bad follow-up.

- Shinobi (2002)
Those who want a good challenge will find one here. This Shinobi game is notorious for its difficulty. You must defeat hordes of enemies to sustain your life meter from constantly depleting. Later levels get pretty rough, including the final boss fight. Stylish game though!

- The Revenge of Shinobi (2002)
Not a port of the Genesis game but a new game that you very slowly and painfully collect keys/pull levers to stop the now evil Shoguns and prevent the return of Ashira-O. An extremely by the numbers attempt that is mostly boring. Easily a low point of the series.

- Shinobi Legions/Shinobi X/Shin Shinobi Den (1995)
The answer to the question "What if Revenge of Shinobi was done with Mortal Kombat digitized sprites and FMV cutscenes?". Not overtly bad, but definitely one of the more odd stand out titles in the series.

- Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (1993)
Neo Zeed is back and you must beat them in 7 levels of fast paced ninja action. Excellent entry in the series and one I personally go back to often. This title is not only one of the best Genesis games but one of the best 16-bit era games!
February 26, 2025 at 1:51 AM
- The G.G. Shinobi II: The Silent Fury (1992)
Defeat the evil ninja and obtain the stolen element crystals and the four ninjas from GGS1. More of what made the first Game Gear Shinobi game great to play! Yuzo returns a 3rd time to co-produce the soundtrack.

- Electronic Shinobi (~1991)
Released by Tiger Electronics, back when they released hundreds of LCD handhelds on all sorts of IPs. It's about as good as you can expect from a Tiger Electronics handheld from that time (i.e. Not very). Needed 2 AA batteries to even work.

- The G.G. Shinobi/Shinobi (1991)
A new game that plays similar to Revenge of Shinobi on Genesis where you rescue different ninjas with different abilities and attacks in 5 levels. But on the go with the Game Gear. Great handheld version! Yuzo Koshiro returns for the soundtrack.

- Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (1990)
Another Master System exclusive. This puts Alex Kidd in 4 Shinobi levels in a self parody of both series. And you know what, it works! Perhaps a little easy but still fun. Not bad for one of Alex Kidd's last console appearances.
