They tried to spin together this like "power struggle, family revenge" thing (also there's a strange crow wizard that's not really ever explained?) but its just never focused on enough to actually try to follow or care how the story ends.

To be clear, the martial arts and action scenes are AWESOME - its clear that Tony Jaa deserves all the acclaim he gets. The movie just sort of "exists" when there isn't fighting though.
