I've wished since 2017 that the press would simply not repeat the words from President Trump. Report on actions, yes by all means. But not on his verbial b.s.

8. Lastly, the Ring wasn’t destroyed because the goodies dominated and bullied other people. It was destroyed because of their compassion and empathy. Aragorn, Gandalf, the Wood-elves, Frodo, and Sam all could have killed Gollum, but showed mercy and that saved the world.

4. The goodies learn to communicate with one another. Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra. His arms open wide. The baddies twist words like the aptly-named Wormtongue. /4

2. When Captains Archer, Kirk, and Picard go back in time and see Nazis they are not trying to help the Nazis win.
3. The Palantír in The Lord of the Rings were used to deceive and daunt others. Naming your company Palantír is a big flashing neon light saying “I’m a baddie.” /3

1. The point of the Lord of the Rings was not that goodies need more power. It was that the lust for power (and the despair that follows when you can’t get enough of it) turns goodies like Boromir into baddies. /2
