An underappreciated aspect of the complexity and vastness of the healthcare system is the way that it facilitates the creation of sub-industries built on newly commodified processes or items (Eg medical debt purchasing).

It’s now happening with companies marketing AI software for claims/PAs.

Got to have all the benefits of Match Day this past week (new job feels) without any of the downside since gen med programs don’t use the Match.

Yesterday’s NYT briefing on SUD policy in Oregon is seriously lacking. Stigmatizing language aside, the piece rests on some fundamental misunderstandings of addiction. Eg, “that attitude” below describes manifestations of SUDs, not the root of SUDs.

At least 3.6 million Medicaid enrollees have lost coverage so far, based on data from 37 states. These are staggering numbers. Many will re-enroll but even brief periods of uninsurance can lead to deferred or delayed care.
