Ham radio operator since April 2023. Old callsign DO3MOS was replaced by new callsign DL7MO in May 2025.
Hi Steve, I do not own any Apple devices, but I think there should be an app for this. Heard about iFTx or so...

And also interesting, that log-periodic antennas are used very often to receive TV.

Amazing for a #hamradio guy to see the Sardinia Radio Telescope.

Yes, that's what I noted directly 😀

Yes, I also think so. 😀

Btw, there is another region in Germany (Saxonia) where it is easier - they run the Saxonian Mountain Contest during the whole year, and lots of people are listening on specific frequencies for this during the day.

Thanks for the link. It looks good, and I can imagine that it gives nice results. :)
I also have some more antennas for the Anytone and the Quansheng, and another to-do is to compare their signal strength from some distance.

That's cool. I also like the quansheng, and a tape measure antenna is on my to-do list. Do you have a link to a good instruction for building it?

Hi, for most images I used the original rubber duck antenna. For two #ISS passes I used a mounted DIY T2LT antenna. But no big difference - while the T2LT might have bigger gain, the rubber duck antenna allowed me to better adjust the direction.
