Don’t think it makes a difference one way or the other to his chances. I think he’s got it!

The question is does this vague, non-committal, neither support nor oppose stance help them more with Midwest moderates than it hurts them with progressives.

No obvious answer there but feels wrong!

Having said that, I also have seen dems run sanders style candidates in WI that fared disastrously because R’s exploited. It needs to be a big tent. No one size fits all.

I generally agree but it’s never a blanket statement. There definitely are anti establishment voters who like Trump, AOC, Bernie, RFK jr, and Mamadani. It’s never as b&w as a specific dot on the political spectrum and I do think that’s how dem establishment reductively views it.

Yes but if the dem leadership endorses him then there’s this default line that dem establishment = Mamdani—this is political BS but R’s are great at exploiting it.

FWIW I’m with you Mamdani is great for NYC and I hope he wins! It’s just a bit of a bind for dems PR nationally.

I don’t think this is it. Mamdani is a great candidate for NYC but not everywhere. They don’t want a senate candidate in Iowa being cast by R opponent as “the party of Mamdani.” It needs to be a big tent and they’re cautious. I’m pro Mamdani but it can be strategic for some to distance too.

IMO discovering an unsung masterpiece is one of the great joys of being a cinephile. It’s even better when you yourself were one of the ones initially dismissive. Will revisit on your rec—I think I’ve seen others re-evaluate it too recently. Maybe it’s one that will have a stronger second life!

*misattributing, that’s the word I was looking for!

I wonder if you used the cheese to administer the medication at any point if that could have triggered the same effect. Idk though! It’s hard when they can’t tell us. Sorry you’re going through this!

I had a dog stop eating her main food after getting ill. I felt she developed an instinctual resistance after misassociating her feeling with the food. I combined it with higher reward food to rebuild her confidence in eating it and weaned back to normal.

Somewhat different circumstances tho.

What I don’t understand is how he has a 53% approval right now, near an all time high.

It must really be only about the economy to most, and misattributed credit/blame for that.

Not Anora? Thought it was the consensus frontrunner but not following closely. Assuming it missed something somewhere?

I don’t understand how an article like this neither lists nor links to the dates and cities of said tour (unless I missed it)

Between this and that Blinkist app that gives users summaries of books so they don’t have to read them, I feel like society is turning into that character in Whit Stillman’s Metropolitan who reads analysis of Pride and Prejudice and thinks that means he doesn’t have to read the actual book.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things feels closest to me—the ice cream spot and Oklahoma stuff bring the Americana theme into an already pretty “Lynchian” setup/gambit and vibe.

Of course even the closest isn’t the same and that’s what made Lynch so singular.

Not to mention Dune and Wicked being in the mix. How many BP nominees must be blockbusters to satisfy this crowd? All of them?

I always thought the strategy here was “be like CODA” which similarly opened quietly in August and boomed early in the new year.

Oh wow I had forgotten Cuaron produced the Rohrwacher. Just watched the Lowery. Also quite good! I hope they make the other 3.
