Governing from the left requires more than the moral clarity of a single progressive administration:

It requires building an infrastructure that prepares the ground for the next one.

Zohran, take note.

Zohran Mamdani Must Not Give Good Intentions a Bad Name
John Lindsay expanded welfare, civil rights, and public spending—yet left New Yorkers politically disarmed. Zohran Mamdani should learn the lessons of his mayoralty.

Vaudeville was the theatrical equivalent of TikTok: short bits of entertainment with little thematic, character or plot development.

Similar formats dominated most 19th-century stages.

The holistically unified work of art is a recent - and perhaps passing - development.

I've been going hard on partyism lately, but this is the pièce de résistance.

A new para-party can combine our era's hyper-politicization with grassroots organizing and civic engagement.

The DSA must be that party.

Wrong take: mediocre white men don’t deserve tenure track humanities jobs in academia.

Correct take: from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.

"As the prospect of a Mamdani mayoralty becomes reality, city hall staffers would benefit from reading Wortel-London’s cautionary tale of what happens if a city refuses to confront the vested interests holding it for ransom."

It is worth noting that in the 1930s, the United States diverged from a global trend toward right-wing extremism owing in large measure to the rapid and visible successes of the New Deal.

In the years after the 2008 crash, it did not.

Every bad current within the Left can be viewed as the price paid for some other bad current.

“Political correctness” was a manifestation of postmodernism, which was a reaction to another set of bad politics.
