I have struggled with MDD my entire life
I dislike the overwhelm, the insomnia, the stupid unasked for tears that just come

The disconnect between me and reality
The dissociation and numbness as I try to cope and bring myself back online properly

The HS Band’s first was performance tonight. They have three classes - Beginner, who have just started playing instruments this year; Concert, who are the intermediate, & Symphonic, who are the mastery class.

It is simply amazing to hear the hard work these kids put in to sound as good as they do !

In an effort to stir my creative pot, I’ve been challenged to write a #poem each week. It’s not as good as when I was #writing all the time, however …

“Tornado”

Gently the trees begin to sway
An invisible hand touching their leaves
Their limbs rising and falling
Ever so slightly- like sighing
When a lover kisses you tenderly

The stillness that follows
That pause of quiet respite
A facade that belies
The torrential onslaught of pressure -
Of release, of strength and fury

The building of gray
Obscuring the blue gaiety of the day
A smattering of rain
A wall of wind… an atmosphere
Unstable… ice begins to fall

Like warring emotions
The air begins to change
Turning away and pushing forward
It doesn’t know how to arrange
Reaching for stability
For anything to hold
To ground the destruction
An almighty sight to unfold

Feet dirty and hair tangled
Wild and free
Running through forests, field, and stream

I need to float among the clouds
Light and airy
Gathering my sins and sorrows
Releasing them fast as a furious storm

I want to lay with you unabashedly
Flesh to wanton flesh
Creating a simplistic space
For our otherworldly desire

I need to roam the whole of your body
Seeking the depths of your oceans
Tasting the salt of your skin
Reveling in the sound of your heartbeat
