And right now, money == distribution of power. Something dramatic will need to happen for the states to reject the party-driven monocultures that control each of them. Preferably a non-violent social awakening.

Illegalize? Anyway. Overturn Citizens United. States enforce their election laws. Non-partisan ballots. Donations from people not orgs. Donations restricted to people within the office’s jurisdiction. Political parties become supper clubs/debate societies. Needs a 50+6 territory initiative.

Wait… we passed a halfway-decent law?? Are we sure the law doesn’t promote toxic dumping in Biscayne Bay, or cancel the next election?

World War IX is the one with the whales, right?

Perot was not close. He was designed to split proto-MAGA from GHWB and give Clinton a path to win. The problem isn’t how many parties… it’s that there are parties at all. Parties should have no official role in our elections.

If the speech can’t be stopped and the non-Congressional invitees can’t be disinvited, each chamber’s minority should only have its leader present. No walkout. Just don’t be there. Let POTUS address a half-empty room. The remaining members should be outside in active protest.

If the Joint Session can’t be stopped, close the gallery? Disinvite SCOTUS and the Joint Chiefs. No Cabinet. Current Members of Congress only - legacy floor privileges end at the cloak room. Press limited to pool reporters and the CSPAN video team.

IIRC, the Constitutional obligation is for the President to provide an update to Congress and the Joint Session address comes by an invitation from the Speaker of the House. Motion to block the invite and compel a written update in lieu of a speech?

I’ve been telling my teams to expect this since summer. TBH I expected it to be legislative, not EO. First step to English Only. Healthcare first, then general business, the muni gov and courts. This has to be stopped.

It isn’t frivolous. I expect it will go after requirements to support LEP support in healthcare and the courts. Also, a needed first step toward “English Only”. This has to be stopped.

Chef's kiss is the grammatical error he made by omitting the possessive apostrophe that should make the text, "Oklahoma's classrooms."

My first encounter was a John Stewart bit on the Daily Show... feels like 1,000 years ago.

Witness! Was forced to teach OO-COBOL to “legacy” devs. Last day, I told them to forget the OO cruft, use their superior functional decomposition skills, and build service façades that interop with the legacy code base. Only port/refactor for scale or biz logic needs. I felt like a hero that day!
