They had a plan to "justify" moving Devers and his contract for whatever reason, and they certainly executed it. Bregman was always nothing more than a pawn in it. Disappointing to say the least.

Where do the Red Sox shift their focus to now if it hasn't already been focused elsewhere? Just bringing Bregman back (assuming they do) doesn't feel like it's enough.

Agree 100 percent. A lot of teams are trying to nickel and dime their way through free agency, while a couple of teams are willing to be serious.

National media all seem set on wanting to see the Red Sox trading Casas for some reason. I can't see the Sox giving up all that for Crochet. There's a reason why Bowden isn't a GM anymore in this league.

I really want to be optimistic but I don't want to allow myself to be at the same time. If ownership truly decides to commit, the window will open for this team.
