In New York, for example, there were 1,052 excessive force complaints from the 2020 protests fielded by the CCRB. Just five officers lost more than 10 vacation days (which is considered severe discipline).

The 2020 protests were defined by police violating protocols and beating protesters. There was remarkably little accountability for that conduct. In many states, "more training" was the recommended outcome for coordinated violence perpetrated by police
