After everything I am coming to the conclusion the really important discourse is the popular culture one because having good (not necessarily interesting or unique) popular culture takes is the best proxy for good political takes.

Everyone at Yale should shun the 28% of fascists and everyone who doesn't is complicit.

A court can be legitimate even when they make bad legal decisions.
The court becomes illegitimate when they no longer make legal decisions and utilize their authority to undermine the law. That taints everything they do.

I think this is where congress went wrong. They should have done a resolution of insurrection and then moved to impeach.

I think a joint resolution by congress is enough to trigger the 14th amendment prohibition and congress should have done it. Let Trump and co-conspirators sue to try to reverse it.

As someone who on many occasions deployed the argument "you only care about federalism because of racism" ...I feel vindicated that it turned out to be true for the vast majority of people who used to insist that federal was a principled objection
