sat here tonight and messed around with grafana because ive never really used it. got a nice dashbord now pulling data from my cm4, microcluster and one of my ai nodes. the cooler i installed is definitely working on the ai node as they usually run at about 50c+.

in the end it was indeed, a bodge job with zipties. couldnt get it to mount without over stressing the board & needed the soc to touch the underside of the top section of this cooler, used copper pads for that.

it doesn't look too bad. need them to lower temps as these boards run warm. func > form

i had an idea of mounting a headerless luckfox pico max inside an nvme cooler. i have a cooler spare and another luckfox dropped today, i need a few of them anyways for another project but just want to see if i can somehow mount it inside. it might have to be a bodge job with zipties tho.

microcontroller drawer.

recently got a book on esp32 & risc-v, so that will be interesting to work through with the supermini c3s... definitely going to make use of the s3s, edge nodes for another project

luckfox pico max runs well off a 5v poe splitter too, so that solidifies another idea ive got

always a joy to sit here.

finally managed to add my microcluster to the main network without "no route to host". issue was stale arp tables in my office switch, i have a few daisychained together & had a hunch this was the reason. finally added the ip's as reserved addresses in my router & can now view grafana from my phone

went back to debian + xfce on my legacy rig, kde neon is lovely but very heavy. legacy rig usually runs xp x64 for metin2 dev (+ playing fallout 3 / skyrim).

1c cpu :D

psu is 160w pico, but never draws > 100w, with current electric prices gotta keep that wattage down. entire homelab uses ~240w.

luckfox max module is here, ive got a few of these coming from different sources.

rockchip rv1106 soc
- cortex a7 @ 1.2ghz
- built in npu with 1 tops compute
256mb ddr3l ram
256mb nand flash
10/100 ethernet
isp support
os support - ubuntu/buildroot/alpine

going to have lots of fun with these :)

another project im working on is my microcluster thats comprised of a cm5 8gb + 128gb nvme, and 2x wyse 3040s running debian. the wyse nodes have usb nvme drives attached to them, as well as a microcontroller on each wyse for mcu development, all housed in a modified 3 bay 3.5" hdd caddy

removing the chassis of a wyse 5010 to mount inside my rocket complex case, i have two of these; both with storage server 2003 on. making a legacy dfsr cluster with these guys and a vostro a100 board; just for a bit of legacy fun really. :)

finally got fallout 3 working on the xp x64 rig. another legacy game added to the library.

ill be installing suse 9.3 pro x64 at some point. 2nd hdd is ready for it (300gb raw) & i also seperated an ntfs partition (200gb) because metin2 requires a D:/ drive for map assets in world editor

my 2005 era legacy hybrid rig is coming along nicely. mounted the pico lcd & also put in another 500gb hdd that i ripped out my old xbox. also managed to activate maya 2009 x64bit. took some doing.. lots of 3d fun to commence with ued3 and maya. plus installing suse 9.3 pro x64 on the 2nd hdd (:

all systems go. xp x64 fully working on the am1I (which doesnt support xp), freebsd 12 is running the server on an n3350 board. client works ok; ill have to rebuild on xp (client was built with vs22, no good for me!)

but everything is working. ready for development & all housed in a mini itx!

after 6~ hours of installing every revision of driver known to humanity i finally solved it! the trick was to enable uefi network stack (but disable pxe) which forces the nic to load its eeprom and power the phy. without it it remains in a low state and xp cant initalize it.

my 12v 10a transformer finally arrived so now i have 120w of power, finally. just on the cusp at around 115w. both displays work great. now to spend 6 years trying to find drivers that work! 🤣

getting there :)

building today but not computers or software. trying to make this raised veg patch look nicer. everything here is reclaimed. im also laying a 20ftx9ft indian sandstone patio, which is going to be the only "new thing" in our garden. should be finished by winter ready for our handfasting in may 2026!

modded a cable from a spare molex to 4pin fan cable and old usb cable. now both the case fans work in my dual hybrid y2k rocket complex build with the exhaust being externally powered by usb. wanted to have both running from the board but may have tipped over 120w.

works a treat, problem solved

it lives! to an extent.. i need to buy a 12v 10a plug as mine is only 12v 2a so anything apart from idling causes it to shut down as it cant draw enough power. i will order one on friday. been a long build this one but it has been fun. :)

tinkering with my dual rig tonight.
an ode to the 2000s... xp x64 + freebsd x64 in an isolated environment, for development purposes of course. just mounted the switch. getting the k2000D in there was a pain too but its done, just waiting on a picopsu now.

my custom corne keyboard build. alphabetical characters use linear drinkey purple switches. control, numerical and symbol keys use tactile drinkey blue switches.

lovely for vim!
