There’s a weirdly pervasive belief in some social media circles that downtown Toronto has constant violent protests.

Anyone who spends time downtown knows this is false. But it seems to resonate with the city-fearing crowd.

Most successful conspiracy theories also have some escape hatch for either shrugging away or boosting off of empathy.

As seen explicitly recently with the “sin of empathy” dialogue.
