As George Santayana so famously said: “Those who can’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.
Today’s action in Venezuela is a great example of this quote. Our leaders seem very cocky and confident. We’ll see how long that confidence lasts when the body bags start arriving back home.

Wondering if the President will pay himself the $50 million bounty for Maduro after attacking another sovereign country without the approval of Congress

Re: subsidies to help people afford Health insurance in the ACA marketplace.
Republicans claim we can’t afford the $350B over ten years in taxes to cover subsidies. But as people drop their now unaffordable insurance, everyone who stays pays more. It is simple supply and demand, and a hidden tax.

I hear that a public advocacy group is suing the Trump administration over its obvious violation of the Hatch Act, in which a banner was put on the HUD web site blaming the government shutdown on “radical left democrats “. Here is another example.

Isn’t it ironic that President Trump is trying to fire Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board for allegedly lying on a mortgage application to get a favorable loan, when he has been convicted of fraud for doing what amounts to the same thing?

In my opinion, Vladimir Putin is playing President Trump like a fiddle. Note that by arranging this meeting, he avoided significant sanctions on Russia’s trading partners, and now there is no mention of any of that.
Think of all those journalists who flew all the way to Alaska for nothing.

With the Supreme Court’s ridiculously unworkable ruling regarding nationwide injunctions today, it has never been more clear that they will rubber stamp whatever unconstitutional policies the Trump administration puts forth.

It is time for a constitutional amendment limiting their term length.

In my opinion, nominating a person for Surgeon General who has never practiced medicine is like expecting sound and useful advice about how to raise your kids by someone who has never had children.

RFK Jr calls vaccines a “personal choice” even though we are in the midst of a measles outbreak. Does he also feel that seat belts and motorcycle helmets should be a personal choice?
The rest of us shouldn’t have to pay for the bad choices of others.

It is my feeling that Judge Boasberg should hold the DOJ lawyers who are refusing to follow his orders in contempt, and offer to jail them in the same nightmarish facility in El Salvador that ICE sent the Venezuelan detainees to.

Perhaps all the federal workers who are able to should go on strike to protest the cruel and shabby ways they are being treated. After a week or two, I think we’d all value their work more and be more supportive.
