I try to avoid FB these days, but saw I was bleeding notifications. When I checked in, there was a recent cluster of friends’ birthday notices. But several died the last few years from cancers, self-harm, and Covid. My food-critic friend Pinky passed alone in a hotel in Las Vegas. His was today.
