As long as I've been alive (a long time!) restaurants and hotels have failed, closed and then opened with new owners. Often multiple times. Churn has always been part of the industry, vat reduction or not it will continue to be. Wasted money and opportunity.

She hasn't a great record on animal welfare, for which she had responsibility as a minister. Opposed bans on fox hunting and coursing, presided over legislation around dog breeding establishments which essentially treat puppy farming as an alternative farm enterprise. The famous letter.

They keep referring to Jim Gavin's "dispute with a tenant" on @news.rte.ie. I'm not aware that there was any dispute that the money was owed, he just didn't pay it. Surely it should be "failure to pay a debt to a tenant". #aras25

I listened to #liveline today - a bad habit I broke long ago - and learned 2 things.

1. We cannot slag any country for having a stupid electorate.
2. FF voters are furious with the 'party machine' - the rent stuff not really a biggie.
