Just to reassure you, Hannah, that particular kid is not still having to deal with this. They finished school not that long after it all kicked off I think. Not pleasant for any kids or staff to have him and his horrible cronies at the gate but the original kid is well out of it.

Personally I think as white people we've more than earned everyone's suspicion and no-one owes us trust. As individuals we can show up but we shouldn't expect cookies. And deciding to lecture people on being prejudiced against white people is NOT a way to build trust.

Got the car back from the mechanic after I lost the driver-side panel to a speed limit sign when I skidded on black ice a week ago. Tricky without it in rural Ireland in a one-driver household but we managed with a bit of help from family and neighbours.

Have you ever toured the place? It's insane, padded walls to ensure no injuries when they're doing the deed, luxury stables, insane appointments book with all the genealogical and medical details cross matched- it's a long way from humping in a field. But of course I agree, salary is ridiculous.
