This is basically my 2025 entirely summed up 🤣

It was lovely to get away from the hustle, bustle, and glitter of central London into the oasis of peace that is the ‘Hamnet’ exhibition: Even as a Shadow, Even as a Dream

I didn't really use Spotify much this year, so my yearly Wrapped was so far out that it isn't worth sharing. Instead, here are my 5 favourite albums of the year (in no particular order)…

The judges votes were counted (including mine), the champagne corks were popped, and the finalists were out out for the glittering European Contact Centre and Customer Service awards in London last night. Congratulations to all of the winners ecccsa.com/2025-winners/

A few dazzling days at LFF - red carpets, fab films & even a Spielberg sighting. Hamnet was outstanding — I seriously dehydrated 😭; Frankenstein — sumptuous but too long; Sentimental Value — Skarsgård & Reinsve shine; H is for Hawk — Claire Foy + hawk = charm; Train Dreams — lovely trees, slow story

A beautiful harvest moon over Stratford Upon Avon after a gorgeous Cyrano de Bergerac at the RST - by a nose one of the best productions I’ve seen at the RSC for a while

It is always fab to see Blade Runner on a big screen, but even better to have Ridley Scott do an intro Q&A at the BFI. It’s still so relevant in an era of AI, climate change & billionaire led mega-corporations (despite the 2019 tag & lack of mobile phones). Plus that Vangelis soundtrack is a banger!

The whole of Bath seemingly turned out to celebrate Bath Rugby’s treble victories today. Johann van Graan and the lads had an open top bus parade & a ceremony at the Rec after winning the league cup yesterday - on top of the Premiership and European Challenge Cup this season 🏆

The 4th was definitely with the 2022 cohort of brilliant entrepreneurs & innovators as they graduated from Cambridge Judge Business School today. Joined in the celebrations at Queens College Old Hall (which looks more Harry Potter than Star Wars TBH). Congrats to all involved 👏 🥂

All set up for a Tim Tam Slam - I’m in heaven ❤️❤️

That’s a wrap on the 2024 BT Young Scientists. Judging this is both a privilege & a joy. Enthusiasm cut through freezing temperatures & even fog couldn’t cloud proceedings. Congrats to the Murphy sisters, Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise, for winning with their medical assistance app

The Baltic Dublin temperatures weren’t going to stop the fabulous BT Young Scientists and Technologists from warming up the intellectual cockles this year. Day 1 of judging is done and I’ve been having enormous fun talking to some of the remarkable young people in the Behavioural Science category

It’s the time of the year for a film review 🎬🍿. It was a “box of chocolate” year. Saw 105 - all but 5 in the cinema (where it is easier to concentrate). Walked out on 1 (Megaflopolis) for the first time in around 20 years. These were my top 10 👇

Merry Christmas & a Peaceful New Year to all of you lovely people of Blue-central. Thank you for your wisdom and support since I joined, and may your day be as mince pie packed and sprout free as possible

This was truly Illuminating! A lovely wander around Illuminate Ipswich in Holywells Park

The annual “Spotify got it wrong” post. They have identified artists I love but there is only 1 that also made my best 2024 albums list (London Grammar). The others are:
Fontaines DC, Michael Kiwanuka, Lady Blackbird, We Are Lady Parts OST, & Afrocelt Sound System

Another glittering evening in London Town celebrating all things CX at the European Contact Centre and Customer Service awards. Judging was hard but fun this year - especially since, as usual, the standard was very high. Congrats to all the winners ecccsa.com/winners-2024

Had a nice marmalade sandwich with this little chap…just back from Peru and on a visit to Manchester ❤️ #paddngtonvisits

That’s a wrap on another fabulous London Film festival - with the brilliant Andrea Arnold’s visceral piece of surreal reality, ‘Bird’, and Richard Curtis’ slice of Suffolk Christmas cheer in October (too early), ‘That Christmas’.

I’m in deepest, darkest (with the emphasis on “dark”) Cornwall - it’s too cloudy for a full aurora show…but not bad for this far South

Reflections from CogX at the Royal Albert Hall today. It’s about people…collaboration with AI is key for innovation & productivity. AI isn’t about a building a better brain, but the next evolution of it could be inspired by ours. Bad AI can erode trust - do models stand up to the real world?

The Janeites were out in force in a glorious sunshiny Bath today. Over 1000 costumed people out promenading to mark the beginning of the Jane Austen festival

Geeking out on the Northumbrian coast - invading Bamburgh Castle and then ambling around Alnwick (where I found toy trains running through an incredible bookshop and failed dismally at Quidditch 😢)

Just out of Alien: Romulus. The best recent effort in the franchise. It has faults, including a distracting tendency towards Alien bingo card box ticking & there’s an unnecessary CGI revival of a legacy character. I seem to have picked up some kind of bug in the cinema, though 😯
