Fire, pub, and a good Christmas lunch with the LMC team.

A little ICM play with the willows today. Half a second of vertical movement and the whole scene dissolved into something close to an impressionist sketch. Nice to stop for a moment and experiment.

Beech leaves lit from behind in late-autumn light. A small moment of colour in an otherwise grey day.

Found this Nazar shoe charm pinned to a noticeboard in a borrowed room today. No idea who put it there or why, but it feels like a quiet little piece of office folklore.

Sycamore on Tarmac.
A small moment of colour on a cold November path.

Testing the 90 mm at very close range this evening.
At ten to fifteen centimetres the depth of field is almost nonexistent, which is exactly the point of today’s experiment. Even a simple Lego setup tells you a lot about how the lens behaves.

Morning frost and quiet texture study on a cold walk with Una.

I see you.
A quiet moment and reflected selfie in Una‘s eye.

A quiet death among the leaves this afternoon, feathers settling into the light.

A close study of the eye, with the room and window reflected cleanly in the cornea. First proper outing for the 90 mm and it shows.

A shadowed sign.

It caught my eye as I walked past, glad I stopped. Bit of fun.

A close-up of a metal grater lit by a torch, transformed into something cold and otherworldly. Domestic objects are more interesting than they look when the light hits them right.

Evening light over Church Road in Leatherhead, looking west–south–west from the LMC offices. A quick masked lift on the sky helps the clouds stand out.

An old cottage wall in Steyning showing the mix of timber, plaster, flint and Horsham Stone. The sandstone is a reminder of how materials from the Weald often found their way into buildings on the edge of the Downs.

Light through autumn leaves on a November night.
November 14, 2025 at 6:57 PM
A grey squirrel crouched between the branches of an old apple tree, partly hidden by trunks and leaves.
November 13, 2025 at 5:28 PM
A quiet woodland find: a tiny oyster mushroom pushing through the bark, catching the last of the morning light.

Snail on autumn leaf.
Caught my eye as I wandered by.

This hibiscus plant on the window ledge at work is incredibly floriferous. Lovely on a very wet and windy day.
November 10, 2025 at 8:12 PM
A colourful Victorian tiled path catches my eye, despite the efforts of the autumn breeze and it's leaves.
November 9, 2025 at 1:58 PM
A curious lunchtime visitor among fallen leaves, it paused just long enough for a portrait.

Reflections of Manchester.
A quiet self-portrait in chrome and autumn light.

Night reflections on the canal just outside Manchester’s Gay Village - quiet water and city light.

A clear November Supermoon over Sussex. First lunar session with the OM-1 Mk II and 100-400mm lens: extraordinary detail for such a small sensor.

A moment of relaxed mischief. Somehow even upside down, the look still says “I’m in charge.”
