I’ll admit that my first post was not totally accurate.

Actually, the flytrap didn’t get a great hold on the yellowjacket and the bug escaped.

So my wife went after it with the chopsticks and got it again. This time the flytrap got a good hold on it.

Today, outside at lunch, a yellowjacket was buzzing around my kids.

My wife picked up some chopsticks and, stonefaced, snatched it out of the air. Then she fed it to the venus flytrap.

Eight hours later the yellowjacket’s leg is still twitching.

For those celebrating, a reminder that it’s customary to eat some sparkly spider challah on the first day of the chag.

A six year old child has fashioned a loaf of bread into the shape of a spider. It has eight legs, an oval body, and webbing coming out the top of its head. Someone who knows the child very well might look for and kind of see a smiley face. Much glittery sprinkles

AND I have nothing but respect for the hardworking production designers in show biz. I just can’t imagine their bosses could budget for their art departments to actually deliver on the way things would “really” look

I have nothing but respect for the people who built this facility. This is not a dig on their work AT ALL. It’s just hard to get air, electricity, and water into and out of a hole in the ground. Like really hard. I don’t think it’s easier to do it in outer space!

You’re in a cavern 100 meters underground, looking up at the service shaft. There are so many pipes. Like good gracious the ceiling and walls are not visible for pipes. Many conduits for electricity, water, hvac. Ceiling is shotcrete, floor is cement

The thing I’m stuck on is that a kids cartoon version of the toxic avenger is extremely Verhoeven-coded.
