And again, to emphasize, so much of softwares model has been "make people feel this is important enough to make the bottom line not matter" but the layers upon layers of businesses acquiring smaller businesses to trickle up their infrastructural stickiness in the age of AI feels alarming and fresh.

But the plan now seems to be "we have no idea how we will make money; lets fake it til we get acquired" and that just sound like an economic and infrastructural time bomb to me. These tools seem good but I don't believe they have features that would be impossible to augment current OSS with. (3/?)

But the use of this as a viability strategy leaves us with tools that are half realized, pull effort from their OSS foundations and ultimately makes software more expensive to learn and develop. Huge amounts of historical precedence for this (most businesses lose money when they start) (3/?)

Like, its the classic embrace, extend, entrench (keep in dependent, keep em stuck al an Adobe and the creative suite) seems to be the model for dev companies at the moment. I realize a lot of folks have run the bells about this before (AWS and Redis, Android and Linux, etc etc etc). (2/?)

I assume they are that way to be touch-free and private; the maze entrance means you get the privacy of a door without having to touch a handle.

I appreciate this! I saw a there are a few add-ons and scripts that I found floating around to do this but it's a more general gripe with the lack of it as a base feature. There is a lot around foot/endnote styling and given that typst seems to pivot more of their solution around just one is a flag.

It’s a shame that Blue Prince still hasn’t patched in that colorblind mode.
