Sadly, he only get 3-star pension. You have to serve in your new rank for a year. He was only a 4-star for a few months. Still, he won in the end.

As a retired Marine SNCO, I can say unequivocally that the admiral will get prosecuted for this, despite being thrown under the bus by the SecDef. And any field grade officer involved as well. Everyone involved committed murder here.
