He doesn’t realize that no one will buy US products anymore outside of the US because of the tariffs. Those companies will have to set up shop outside the US just to avoid the application of tariffs on their goods.

It has happened before. The last time was when the US was trying to coerce Canada into joining its “coalition of the willing” to invade Iraq under false pretenses.
