Good to hear you back again on the Roadhouse and Bluegrass Junction, and hoping your recovery continues swiftly. I'm sure you'll be happy to return home for some real R&R after this (unfortunate) adventure. Cheers! 💪

I switched a few months ago and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Now I'm a Linux fan girl. 👍

Agree, I went to many Dodger games during the Helen Dell years, still can hear that organ play!

3/ I currently live near the Lubin Betzwood Films location, where they made "eastern westerns." Most buildings were destroyed but at least one remains and has been repurposed. The rest of the site now has apartments.

2/ Stetson Hats, Atwater Kent, Lubin Manufacturing are a few of my favorites. Lubin's abandoned buildings at 20th and Indiana are now mostly gone, but Google maps still has older views before they were demolished.

1/ Now I'm the one late in replying, sorry! I was a baby when he worked at Budd, so have no real memories of his experience there. But in more recent years, my train passed right next to it and I was always curious, as I am about many old Philly locations. Most are now gone or, if lucky, repurposed.

My father worked there for a time before he ended up at the Fairless Works. Enjoy your posts!

And this is why I switched to Linux Mint last week. Not a programmer, not a techie, but I managed to get it installed and it's just perfect! No bloatware or annoying reminders anymore. And agree on that clock thingy, what the heck?

Dolls, pencils ... just a few of the gazillion things that are imported because they just aren't made in the US, for the most part. I've been writing about doll parts, for example.
Since doll collecting by adults is rather niche, there probably isn't enough demand in the US for manufacturing to gear up. A US-based manufacturer would need to consider tariffs, in addition to labor costs, if wanting to sell outside of the US. /3

Carney is articulate, capable, and cool as a cucumber, so glad he won! Also (sorry for the non sequitur) I really enjoyed your "merry month of May" Truegrass, and especially loved "The Maple's Lament."

Blythe dolls posing with some doll parts sourced from China. It's unlikely that they would ever be manufactured in the US. /4
